Some of the major challenges that I faced before we worked together included the overwhelming stress that comes with being a nursing student and also attempting to maintain my home/work life balance.
Your mentoring helped me navigate the aforementioned challenges. Your constant encouragement gave me the motivation to face those difficult challenges as well as pushed me to continue striving to achieve my goal of becoming a Registered Nurse. Your shining light truly guided me through many of the obstacles that presented during some of the more stressful times of my journey. That’s literally the reason that I refer to you as, “Sunshine”.
The most significant achievement obtained as a direct result of your mentorship has been graduating from Delaware Technical Community College with my Associates Degree in Nursing. Even more momentous would be that you’ve become more than a mentor, you’ve become my family.
Melissa Johnson, boy, there’s so many great things I can say about her. Her energy, integrity, and passion speaks for itself.
I met Melissa in 2014 as an intern while obtaining my associates degree. Now I’m not too sure about anyone else but as a young African American female with very minimal experience and connections, I did not know where to start. But connecting with Melissa was the start to a better me. She unselfishly took me under her wing and I greatly appreciate her for that.
I have learned how to become a professional and a really good one at that. Now who do you know that will let someone have it but in a professional way lol Melissa. Now she did not come off as Aggressive at all; in fact, she has such a warm heart but the way she will get her point across in difficult situations was something special. She was respectful, direct with a business like tone while also avoiding any personal attacks. Melissa’s guidance and coaching has helped me in so many ways including my interpersonal skills. I am able to better communicate, build relationships and work together with others.
I had the opportunity to be blessed with your guidance at a time that I was in dire need of it. A challenge that I faced before Evolving Vision’s guidance was that of a loved one’s and I quarreling. Furthermore, Evolving Visions guidance has assisted me in rebuilding the relationship that me and my loved one had by using the tips that they have given me. These tips include but are not limited to active listening and breaking down words to other individuals. As a result, I have been able to realize that not everyone has the same interpretations when using specific words. Therefore, it is better to breakdown one’s own version of the word so that other individuals can best support me and my needs. This has made me a more open- minded individual. Moreover, this is just one of many issues that Evolving Visions has helped me to achieve. I appreciate all of their hard work and dedication! I am writing to express my heartfelt appreciation for the exceptional experience I had working with Melissa Johnson. As the Intensive Learning Supervisor, a school that served students with disabilities, in the Milford School District. I had the pleasure of collaborating with Melissa on several occasions while she supervised the transition of special needs foster care students in or out of our school.
Melissa demonstrated remarkable advocacy skills, as she worked tirelessly to ensure the student was placed in the proper setting. Additionally, her ability to bridge the gap between the school and community was amazing and led to better communication between the two unique entities.
One notable instance of Melissa’s excellence was when she was able to persuade a student with severe behavior issues to attend school and eventually successfully complete the program. She was able to provide counseling to the student that restored his confidence and trust, allowing for the education process to work. Her dedication and innovative approach significantly contributed to the success of our school.
Overall, working with Melissa has been an enriching and rewarding experience. Her professionalism, expertise, and positive attitude make her an invaluable asset to any team. The experience that I have had, seeing a child advocate like Melissa, has restored my belief that our agencies are hiring and training individual with exceptional education and child advocate skills.
